If you want to directly promote a product or just your site in general create a
video review. You can either do it yourself or hire someone on Fiverr.com and
give them a script talking about how beneficial the product / website is and
what it can do for you. Be sure to include the product name or keyword in the
title, description, tags and as the file name. If you had an SEO site you might
want to target the keyword 'SEO' or similar.
1.Video Marketing
Create a video about your website / niche / products and upload to Youtube,
Vimeo, Metacafe and Dailymotion at the very least, I'll list some other video
sites at the bottom of the page.
2.Blog Commenting
Google Alerts
Blog commenting when done correctly can drive tons of targeted traffic to your
site and is one of my favourite traffic methods. There's 2 types of blog
commenting, the using tools to spam 70,000 blog comments to various low
quality blogs (avoid this) and manually commenting on relevant niche blogs
(this is the one!).
If you want to do this the free (but quite slow and painful) way you need to set
up Google Alerts to alert you whenever your keyword / product is mentioned
'as soon as it happens' i.e. the instant it is posted so that you can be one of
the first to comment on the blog post.
3.Guest Blogging
Write up a relevant and topical blog post based on your niche. Something
current and on the mind of people at that moment. Email it to top bloggers in
your niche offering it as a guest post and when they publish it you'll get a link
back to your site, when on the right blog these can drive massive numbers of
targeted traffic. Make sure it's the best post you can possibly write.
Social Media
Interacting with others in your niche and posting relevant content is a great
way to drive traffic to your sites. Be sure to add as a friend or follower anyone
who's in your niche, competition or not, as you can poach some of their traffic.
Make yourself well known to them, talk to them, ask them for feedback on
your site / posts / products, follow their followers, add their friends as friends.
Be sure to keep your social media fun and interactive by having competitions,
quizzes and games. Giveaways, prizes, finish the sentence (i.e. “they came,
they saw, they ____” fill in the blank) and “on this day in 1949 XXX happened”
type stuff works well.
Be sure to also post all your blog posts / website articles / product launches to
your social media and ask people to share them.
Twitter
For Twitter I use software called Social Oomph which will automatically post
my content, links and so on continually throughout the day. You can set it to
post every hour (or however often you want it to) and have it cycle through
different posts so that links to your articles are always being posted on an on
going basis. Useful for getting your content in front of different people at
different times of the day instead of just posting the article once, it being seen
by the people who are online at that time then never again.
Facebook
I use a Facebook app called RSS Grafitti to auto post content from my website
(and other relevant websites in my niche) to my FB page. This keeps it lively
and interactive and keeps people on the page. I like to turn my FB pages into a
hub of information for people in my niche so they often revert back to it rather
than it just being a way to post my content.
Pinterest
If you have a site that relies heavily on images or in a niche dominated by
women then Pinterest is a gold mine of traffic. Be sure to post all your images
to Pinterest with a link back to your site. Share and re-pin other content from
people in your niche and favourite their pins, this will mean more exposure for
yourself when they return the favour.
Social Media Sites That No One Mentions
Everyone knows Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest but who ever talks about any of
the others. They may be less well known but they have huge pagerank,
masses of traffic and no one is using them for SEO or traffic, until now...
